Ancient Sanskrit Poem – Look well to this day

Ancient Sanskrit Poem

Photo –  Ancient Town Hall, Naxos, Greece – special memories with my special yoga friend Penny

Look well to this day, for it is life

the very best of life

in its brief course lie all

the realities & truths of existence

the joy of growth, the splendour of action,

the glory of power

For yesterday is but a memory & tomorrow is only a vision

but if well-lived, makes every yesterday a memory of happiness & every tomorrow

a vision of hope look well therefore to this day

Ancient Sanskrit Poem

De stress with this Breathing Technique

When your feeling stressed have you ever noticed that your breath feels short and irregular?When relaxed the opposite is felt. Observe how you breath when relaxed. Your exhalations extend longer than the length of your inhalations.

To promote relaxation we can focus on gently extending our exhalation by one or two seconds. Each exhalation can be twice the length of the inhalation. Enjoy the feeling of relaxation.

Give it a try

Dynamic Mudra Mantra

During this mudra (yoga hand gesture) the fingers move accompanied with mantra Sa, Ta, Na, Ma. As you exhale place one of your fingertips on the tip of each thumb. While inhaling extend the fingers again. Co-ordinate this with the mantra syllables;

Speaking ‘Saa’ press together the thumb and index finger;

Speaking ‘Taa’ use middle finger and thumb;

Speaking ‘Naa’ use ring finger and thumb;

Speaking ‘Maa’ use little finger and thumb.

Use both hands and practice this dynamic mudra mantra for 5 to 30 minutes.

This dynamic mudra is used to promote brain activity and to relax the nervous system. It promotes concentration and creates a feel of inner calmness.

Aim to breathe slowly and focus on an even inhale and exhale. Breathing slowly will help your body and mind to relax.

Give it try. Notice how you feel.

Mantra for New Ventures – OM GUM GANAPATAYEI NAMAHA

OM GUM GANAPATAYEI NAMAHA is a mantra chanted when starting new ventures.

The practice of this mantra has been used to remove obstacles, negative energies and thoughts. To reduce anxiety, release and to let go of emotions.  Clearing stale any energies which can make way for new ventures. A fresh start, a new beginning, a new direction.

Freedom with Yoga – Your Yoga Practice

Feel Freedom with Yoga

Feel Freedom with Yoga

You’ve heard of the saying ‘Just do it’?  Apply this saying to yoga. Practice yoga today. Wherever you maybe.  You don’t have to go to a yoga class to practice yoga. Develop your own yoga practice.  Feel the freedom of tailoring a yoga practice just for you and how you feel right now.

Enjoy the positive benefits yoga provides.  Feel the freedom yoga gives.  It’s your practice.  What will your yoga practice be? yoga asana? start with one asana, what will that be?  Maybe yoga breathing (pranayama)?  karma yoga? meditate? or just take a deep breath and RELAX.

Feel free to choose. It’s your yoga. Practice yoga now!

Namaste
